Canada Post fleet to be fully electric by 2040

OTTAWA — Canada Publish says it should remodel its fleet of automobiles to be absolutely electrical by 2040, spelling out particulars at present on steps it should take to realize its goal.

The Crown company says the electrification of its 14,000 automobiles will serve its dedication to scale back its environmental footprint and attain net-zero emissions by 2050, earmarking $1 billion to take action.

Doug Ettinger, president and CEO of Canada Publish, says its highway map to get there may be primarily based on experience and the supply of electrical automobiles, that are at present not simple to accumulate due to the pandemic and the pc chip scarcity.

Ettinger says the company may even give attention to constructing charging infrastructure for the electrical fleet.

He says Canada Publish’s plan contains particulars on how they may construct the infrastructure at about 350 of their depots for letter carriers.

Ettinger says the company will first add charging stations to the depots at present on electrical energy grids.
