Former Formulation One world champion Jenson Button will race for his personal workforce when the brand new Excessive E off-road all-electric sequence begins later this yr, the Briton stated on Monday.
Each workforce within the sequence, which goals to lift consciousness about local weather change by racing in among the world’s most distant and harsh environments, will need to have a male and a feminine driver. Button’s teammate can be introduced sooner or later.
“I am delighted to announce I can be becoming a member of Excessive E for the inaugural season with my workforce jbxeracing. Cannot wait to get my palms on the Excessive E beast,” Button, who gained his Formulation One title with Brawn GP in 2009, wrote on Twitter.
Rivals will embrace groups owned by Formulation One champions Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
The sequence, which is run by Formulation E founder Alejandro Agag, is scheduled to start in April after its opening race in Saudi Arabia was pushed again by two weeks.
Rounds may even be held in Senegal, Greenland, the Brazilian rainforest and Argentine glaciers of Tierra del Fuego.
