UAW auditors have alleged {that a} monetary secretary at Native 412 in suburban Detroit misappropriated funds.
Inside auditors stated they found greater than $2 million in “improper private expenditures” by the worker. In an announcement, UAW Worldwide Secretary-Treasurer Frank Stuglin characterised it as an “elaborate” embezzlement scheme by the regionally elected officer. Native 412 represents Stellantis workers in Warren, Mich.
The union stated the Native 412 monetary secretary has been suspended. The audit’s findings have been referred to the U.S. Division of Labor and different legislation enforcement authorities, Stuglin stated.
Native 412 President Jerry Witt wrote in a letter to members that the union was working to file a bond declare for the losses.
“Because of the severity of the attainable misappropriations, I like to recommend that the Native Government Board think about contacting the Worldwide Union about putting the Native in administratorship to help the Native’s effort to appropriate this breach and put the Native on the correct path,” Witt wrote.
The Detroit Free Press reported the audit’s findings Wednesday.
