SHANGHAI – Volkswagen Group’s three way partnership with China’s SAIC Motor has appointed Jia Jianxu, a veteran govt on the state-owned Chinese language automaker, as its new common supervisor.
Jia has greater than 20 years of expertise within the auto business and was in control of SAIC’s European market growth, in response to SAIC-VW’s assertion.
Each automakers have a 50 p.c share within the three way partnership.
Since 2018, Jia has been the overall supervisor at Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, a SAIC-owned car seat maker, and helped develop its clever cockpit merchandise.
Jia’s appointment comes as VW is ramping up its efforts in electrical automobiles in China, with its ID electrical lineup geared toward competing with Tesla and Chinese language rivals akin to BYD on this planet’s largest EV market.
The JV bought a complete of 91,761 full-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in 2022, whereas China’s BYD bought almost 1.8 million items and Tesla 439,770 items, in response to the China Passenger Automotive Affiliation.
