LaFontaine Automotive Group mentioned it has bought the Ralph Thayer Automotive group’s three shops, all of that are within the Detroit suburb of Livonia.
LaFontaine, of Highland, Mich., will add Hyundai, Mazda and Volkswagen dealerships after the transaction closed on Thursday. Monetary phrases of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The shops have been renamed LaFontaine Hyundai of Livonia, LaFontaine Mazda of Livonia and LaFontaine Volkswagen of Livonia.
“We’re excited to welcome the staff and prospects of Ralph Thayer Automotive into our LaFontaine household,” CEO Ryan LaFontaine mentioned in a press release. “This strategic acquisition additional strengthens our capacity to serve prospects within the better Metro Detroit space –- for gross sales, service, physique store and components.”
The family-owned and operated Ralph Thayer group dates to 1971.
LaFontaine ranks No. 43 on Automotive Information‘ list of the top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S., retailing 19,565 new autos in 2020.
Based in 1980, LaFontaine has 25 Michigan areas, 44 franchises and 6 collision facilities. It employs greater than 1,800 folks.
Final fall, LaFontaine added Shuman Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram of Walled Lake and Delehanty Ford in Flushing. Each shops are in Michigan.
Vendor Options Mergers and Acquisitions, a buy-sell agency based mostly in Markham, Ontario, and with a U.S. workplace in Jupiter, Fla., represented LaFontaine within the transaction.
