DETROIT — The UAW obtained $1.1 million for the acquisition of a controversial lakefront home in northern Michigan constructed for former President Dennis Williams, The Related Press reported this week.
Williams in Might was sentenced to 21 months in jail for being a key ringleader within the union’s embezzlement scandal alongside together with his successor, Gary Jones. The multiyear federal investigation resulted in 15 convictions.
New UAW President Ray Curry wrote a notice to members Tuesday that the property’s sale was finalized July 23.
The property, Cabin 4 on the UAW convention heart on Black Lake, was listed at $1.3 million and is positioned in Cheboygan County.
