POMONA, Calif. — Mike Salinas raced to the provisional No. 1 qualifying spot in High Gasoline on Friday within the season-ending Auto Membership NHRA Finals at Auto Membership Raceway.
Salinas had a 3.694-second run at 328.78 mph. Factors chief Steve Torrence was second with a 3.698 at 317.05 as he seeks his fourth straight season championship.
“We’re having a very good time and we need to end this season sturdy,” Salinas mentioned. “That is our plan and it helps when you will have a staff like this and you realize the automotive goes to run properly. They’re making this enjoyable.”
Robert Hight topped the Humorous Automobile subject, Greg Anderson led in Professional Inventory and Matt Smith was the quickest in Professional Inventory Bike. Hight had a 3.894 at 330.55 in a Chevrolet Camaro.
Going for his fifth world title, factors chief Anderson ran a 6.566 at 210.21 in a Chevrolet Camaro. Factors chief Smith had a 6.779 at 201.19 on his EBR as he seeks his second straight season title.
