POMONA, Calif. — Steve Torrence, Greg Anderson and Matt Smith raced to season championships and race victories Sunday within the season-ending Auto Membership NHRA Finals.
Torrence raced to his fourth High Gas championship, Anderson gained his fifth Professional Inventory crown, and Smith claimed his fifth Professional Inventory Bike title. Ron Capps gained his second Humorous Automobile season championship.
Torrence secured the title with a first-round victory. Within the closing, he beat Antron Brown with a 3.759-second move at 317.12 mph. Torrence had 11 victories this season to push his profession complete to 51.
“I simply have all the arrogance on the planet in that race automobile,” Torrence mentioned. “I do not understand how we have achieved what we’ve got aside from laborious work and nice help, however that is what all the fellows on this group have devoted their lives to. On the stage we’re at, it takes a group that is keen to go the additional mile.”
Bob Tasca III gained the Humorous Automobile race for his third victory of the season, beating Alexis DeJoria with a 3.955 at 321.65 in a Ford Mustang. Capps gained the season title when defending champion Matt Hagan misplaced within the semifinals.
Anderson took the season Professional Inventory crown by beating defending champion Erica Enders within the semifinals. He then rolled to his fifth victory of the 12 months and class-record 99th total, topping Kyle Koretsky within the closing with a 6.574 at 208.23 in a Chevrolet Camaro.
Smith wrapped up the title within the second spherical. Within the closing, he beat Karen Stoffer with a 6.817 at 200.74 on an EBR. He gained six occasions this season and has 32 profession victories.
