French registrations fall 15% in December on new COVID surge, chips crunch

PARIS — New-car registrations in France fell 15 p.c in December, partly as a result of a world semiconductor scarcity and as a brand new wave of coronavirus infections creates uncertainty.

In complete, 158,121 passenger automobiles have been registered final month, France’s CCFA affiliation of carmakers stated on Saturday.

For all of 2021, registrations have been up simply 0.5 p.c at 1.66 million in contrast with 2020’s multi-year low.
