DETROIT — The compact Ford Maverick was named 2022 North American Truck of the 12 months whereas the Bronco was named Utility Automobile of the 12 months and the Honda Civic took Automobile of the 12 months honours.
It is the second-straight 12 months Ford has earned two of the three NACTOY awards.
The winners, introduced Tuesday, have been chosen by means of a three-part voting course of by a jury of fifty automotive journalists from U.S. and Canadian media. The automobiles have been picked from three finalists in every class revealed in November.
Along with the Maverick, truck finalists have been the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Rivian R1T. Different utility finalists have been the Genesis GV70 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Lucid Air and Volkswagen Golf Mk VIII (Golf R/Golf GTI) have been the opposite automotive finalists.
The 2022 finalists have been chosen from a pool of 23 semifinalists, narrowed down from an authentic slate of 36 eligible automobiles. Richard Truett, an engineering reporter for Automotive Information, is among the many jurors.
Utility Automobile of the 12 months turned a separate award in 2017.
Final 12 months, Ford snagged prime utility and truck honors for the Mustang Mach-E and redesigned F-150. Hyundai rounded out the 2021 winners with the Elantra sedan.
