Russia could use Chinese platform to revive Moskvich brand, report says

Russia might resume manufacturing of the Soviet-era Moskvich model utilizing a Chinese language platform from automaker JAC in partnership with truckmaker Kamaz, two sources stated.

Kamaz is in talks with its accomplice, China’s JAC, about utilizing its design, engineering and manufacturing platform to provide the model, the sources advised Reuters.

Kamaz and Moskvich declined to remark.

Moskvich is about to make a comeback in Russia as Moscow takes over property belonging to Renault, after the French automaker stated it was promoting its majority stake in AvtoVAZ to a Russian science institute amid Weestern sanctions on Russia following the nation’s invasion of Ukraine.
