Hudson Hornet and Chrysler Turbine Car added to National Historic Vehicle Register

The Hagerty Drivers Basis introduced that the 1952 Hudson Hornet “Fabulous Hudson Hornet” and the Chrysler Turbine Automotive have been inducted into the Nationwide Historic Car Register. They’re the thirty first and thirty second autos inducted into the Nationwide Historic Car Register, which is the one federally acknowledged program to doc the historic and cultural significance of the auto.

Generally known as the “Fabulous Hudson Hornet”, the 1952 Hudson Hornet raced in NASCAR from 1951 to 1955 and was pushed by Marshall Teague, Herb Thomas and Dick Rathmann. It was race prepped by Smokey Yunick and Thomas drove the “Fabulous Hudson Hornet” to 78 podium finishes.

That is the one Hudson campaigned in NASCAR recognized to exist. The “Fabulous Hudson Hornet” is owned by Al Schultz and is on show on the Nationwide Hudson Motor Automotive Firm Museum in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

With turbine jet engines and a Ghia physique, Chrysler constructed 55 of those automobiles as a part of the corporate’s effort to develop a mass-market gas-turbine powered vehicle.
