Electrical automaker Polestar’s first crossover is on deck with a deliberate unveiling Oct. 12 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The 2024 Polestar 3, constructed on a brand new all-electric platform developed by affiliate Volvo, has twin motors and an anticipated EPA vary of greater than 300 miles (480 km).

“With this automotive, we deliver the ‘sport’ again to the SUV, staying true to our efficiency roots,” Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath mentioned. “It is also very aerodynamic and really partaking to drive.”

The Polestar 3 is significant to the younger Swedish automaker’s market ambitions, particularly within the truck-obsessed U.S.

In keeping with firm figures, Polestar expects to promote 24,000 of the midsize crossover globally subsequent 12 months, growing to 67,000 in 2024 and 77,000 in 2025.

The five-seater will compete with the Porsche Cayenne and Audi E-tron. Output will start at Volvo’s South Carolina manufacturing facility subsequent 12 months, with U.S. gross sales beginning within the first half.

At launch, the Polestar 3 will characteristic a rear-biased dual-motor powertrain and torque vectoring through a dual-clutch system on the rear electrical motor.

Adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and energetic dampers will enable the Polestar 3 to modify between consolation and agency suspension dynamics whereas adjusting to highway situations as soon as each two milliseconds, Polestar mentioned.

Efficiency specs haven’t been launched, however an non-obligatory Efficiency Pack will ship 517 hp with specialised chassis tuning for the energetic dampers and air suspension, the corporate says.
