DETROIT — Stellantis will want 4 EV battery crops in North America by 2030, the corporate’s North American COO stated on Tuesday.
The automaker has already introduced two joint-venture battery crops — one in Indiana and the different in Canada — and can want two extra crops in the US, Canada or Mexico, Mark Stewart stated at a Reuters Occasions auto convention in Detroit. The primary two crops are scheduled to launch in 2025.
“By quarter two, quarter three of ’26, if the market continues on the trail that it is on, we’ll want the third plant on-line by late ’26, early ’27. We’re already in discussions for plant No. 3 and presumably plant No. 4. We’ll want 4 crops by 2030.”
The Indiana plant is a three way partnership with South Korea’s Samsung, whereas the Canada plant will probably be constructed with South Korea’s LG Vitality Answer. Companions for the 2 further crops are up for dialogue, Stewart stated.
Stewart expects to make announcement for the third plant by the second quarter subsequent 12 months.
