The latest numbers on the microchip shortage: Ford, others grapple with more cuts

An extra 11,500 autos have been chopped out of worldwide automobile manufacturing plans due to manufacturing facility microchip shortages, in response to the most recent estimate by AutoForecast Options.

All of these cuts are at North American factories, bringing the year-to-date losses within the area to 55,300 autos. No further scheduled reductions have been made exterior North America.

Ford’s meeting plant in Oakville, Ontario, has diminished output due to microchip shortages greater than another North American plant this yr, with about 13,700 autos minimize. The Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus crossovers are assembled there.
