Ourisman Cars, led by CEO Robert Ourisman Jr., expanded its Maryland footprint with the purchase of three dealerships in two transactions.

On Feb. 13, Ourisman Cars bought Ramsey Ford in Rising Sun from Steve Ramsey, Ourisman Jr. confirmed to Automotive News.

Ourisman Cars, of Rockville, Md., is a group of dealerships within Ourisman Automotive Group, Ourisman Jr. said.

The dealership was renamed Ourisman Tri-State Ford. Rising Sun is in northeast Maryland, near the Pennsylvania and Delaware borders.

“It’s up in Cecil County, which is way north Maryland,” Ourisman Jr. said. “So a new county for us and sort of new market representation for us.”

It marks the first Ford dealership for Ourisman Cars, said Ourisman Jr., who noted that his group of dealerships has multiple Stellantis and Chevrolet stores.

“This sort of rounds out the domestic offering,” Ourisman Jr. said.

Woody Woodward, a managing director of DCG Acquisitions, a Dave Cantin Group company, handled the Ford transaction.

The Rising Sun purchase followed a July acquisition of two dealerships in Edgewood, Md., northeast of Baltimore.

Ourisman Cars on July 19 bought Thompson Toyota and Thompson Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram of Harford County from Thompson Automotive Group, Ourisman Jr. said.

The dealerships were renamed Ourisman Toyota 40 and Ourisman Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram 40.

Ourisman Cars also bought Fairfax Kia in Virginia in March 2022.

In addition to the acquisitions, Ourisman Cars was awarded a Lotus open point dealership in Rockville, Ourisman Jr. said. The dealership is under construction and likely will open in the fourth quarter or early 2024, he said.

Ourisman Automotive, of Marlow Heights, Md., ranks No. 16 on Automotive News‘ most recent list of the top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S., retailing 31,682 new vehicles in 2022.
