2025 Dodge Durango special editions celebrate 20 years of Hemi V-8 Durangos

  • Dodge announced two special edition Durangos, one’s a Hellcat
  • The Durango Hellcat supposedly dies after the 2025 model year
  • The Durango marks the last stand for the V-8 at Dodge

Dodge is celebrating two decades of the Hemi V-8’s availability in the Durango with a pair of special editions that will be offered in limited numbers for the 2025 model year.

One is the Durango SRT Hellcat Silver Bullet which features the Hellcat supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, and the other is the Durango R/T 20th Anniversary which packs the standard 5.7-liter V-8.

Silver Bullet is a name Mopar fans know well. It was first attached to a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX that was actually painted blue originally but later given its signature silver finish. The car first served as a test mule as well as a marketing stunt to help build a performance reputation for Plymouth in the street racing scene. It was given a stroked 487-cubic-inch (8.0-liter) V-8 and could run the quarter-mile in 10 seconds.

Incredibly, the Durango SRT Hellcat Silver Bullet isn’t much slower. Thanks to its 710-hp output, quick-shifting 8-speed automatic, and all-wheel-drive system, the three-row midsize SUV accelerates to 60 mph from rest in 3.5 seconds, passes the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds, and can keep going until it reaches a top speed of 180 mph.

The only color available is Triple Nickel, while inside there’s a combination of red and black leather on the seats and silver accent stitching. The wheels are a 20-inch set with what Dodge calls a Lights Out finish, and housed within are red painted calipers for the Brembo brake package. Dodge also fits the vehicle with plenty of the Durango’s available features as standard equipment.

The Durango R/T 20th Anniversary stands out with its black hood graphic, 20-inch wheels with a Brass Monkey finish, Brembo brakes with black calipers, and “345” badging, a nod to the cubic-inch displacement of its 360-hp 5.7-liter V-8. Inside, there are front seats borrowed from the SRT, second-row captain’s chairs, and bronze-like accent stitching.

Both special editions are available for order at dealerships, with the Durango SRT Hellcat Silver Bullet priced from $113,325 and the Durango R/T 20th Anniversary priced from $66,970. The prices don’t include destination charges.

Dodge is gearing up to bid farewell to the V-8 in the Durango. Similar to what it did with its last V-8-powered Challenger and Charger muscle cars, Dodge is rolling out a series of “Last Call” special editions to mark the end of the V-8’s run in the Durango. The first of these was revealed in January as the 2024 Durango SRT 392 AlcHemi.
