French performance marque Alpine has provided the first glimpse at an electric compact crossover set to join the lineup in 2025.
It’s called the A390, and a thinly vieled concept version, or Beta as Alpine refers to it, will debut during the 2024 Paris auto show. The show opens its doors to the media on Oct. 14.
A teaser showing the side profile of the A390 Beta was released on Friday and hints at a low-slung, fastback design for the crossover.
Alpine has confirmed production will start in 2025 at a plant in Dieppe, France. The plant is where Alpine builds its sole vehicle currently available, the gas-powered A110 sports car.

The A390 is thought to be designed around a Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance platform for EVs, specifically the CMF-EV platform found in the Renault Megane E-Tech and Nissan Ariya. Renault is the parent company of Alpine.
Alpine will also start sales of the A290 electric compact hatch in early 2025. The A290 uses a lower-cost version of the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-B EV platform, dubbed the AmpR Small platform by Renault.
Alpine last year teased a seven-vehicle lineup, and confirmed plans to enter the U.S. in 2027, initially with two crossovers targeting the segments of Porsche’s Macan and Cayenne. Some of the other vehicles will include electric successor to the A110 plus a four-door sedan or hatch to be called the A310.
The names of Alpine’s modern vehicle all feature an A that stands for Alpine, and then a three-digit number. The first digit signifies the vehicle’s size and positioning, while the remaining two digits signify the vehicle as either a sporty model or more practical lifestyle model. Sporty models use a 10, like the current A110 sports car, while lifestyle models use a 90, like the A290 hatch and upcoming A390 crossover.
