The 2025 Jeep Wrangler retains its manual transmission and V-6 engine, but now the two are inseparable.

For 2025, the 3.6-liter V-6, which produces 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, is only available with the 6-speed manual. Buyers can still choose the 2.0-liter turbo-4, which is rated at 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, but an 8-speed automatic transmission is mandatory with that engine.

Jeep will also continue to offer the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, which adds a pair of electric motors to the turbo-4, but that powertrain was only ever available with the 8-speed automatic. The 4xe ups output to 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, while its 17-kwh battery pack provides up to 21 miles of EPA-rated electric range.

Earlier this year Jeep also announced that the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition would return, giving the 6.4-liter V-8 a reprieve. The special edition was launched for the 2024 model year to celebrate what was to be the end of the V-8, which produces 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Performance figures include a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a quarter-mile ET of about 13 seconds.

Production of the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition was limited to just 3,700 units for the 2024 model year. That included 3,300 for the U.S., 300 for Canada, and 100 for the rest of the world. Jeep hasn’t said how many 2025 models it plans to build, but previously confirmed that order books will open later this year and that production will start in the first quarter of 2025.

Other 2025 Wrangler news is minor, as the Wrangler received a major update for 2024. Power door locks and power windows are now standard on all models, and an available feature for the Jeep app lets owners pre-condition the climate control before entering the vehicle. A ’41 paint color inspired by the olive drab worn by military Jeeps is also new.
