Bespoke Aston Martin DB12 marks “Goldfinger” 60th anniversary

  • Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition celebrates 60th anniversary of “Goldfinger”
  • Special-edition Aston Martin features real gold accents, including gold-laced carbon fiber
  • Production run to total 60 units

It’s been 60 years since the James Bond classic “Goldfinger” hit theaters, and kicked off a partnership between the popular spy movie series and Aston Martin that lasts even today.

To mark the anniversary, Aston Martin and its Q personalization department built a DB12 Goldfinger Edition inspired by the DB5 that appeared in the 1964 film.

The connection starts with the application of silver paint matching the signature Silver Birch used on Bond’s DB5. There are also gold accents, like on the side strakes, plus a unique Aston Martin logo in silver with black enamel. Also unique to the car are its silver 21-inch wheels in combination with black brake calipers.

For the interior, the leather seats feature fluting that matches the design used on the DB5, as well as a perforation pattern designed to match the Prince of Wales check pattern like what Bond often had on his suits. This pattern is repeated on the doors headliner, as well as on the side sills which feature a script highlighting the car as a Goldfinger 60th anniversary special.

Other special touches include include 18-karat gold plating on some of the vehicle’s controls, plus real gold fibers weaved into the carbon-fiber accents. There’s also an eight of hearts motif embroidered onto the driver’s sun visor, which Bond fans will recognize as a reference to the playing card seen in last draw during the famous Miami pool scene in Goldfinger.

Sadly, there aren’t any spy gadgets this time around, though Aston Martin isn’t adverse to adding them to some of its Bond special editions. A few years back the automaker launched a collection of replica versions of the Bond DB5 complete with a revolving license plate, rear smoke screen, oil slick delivery system, and more.

Aston Martin will build just 60 examples of the DB12 Goldfinger Edition for worldwide sale. Availability and pricing for the U.S. market haven’t been announced.

The DB12 is the latest in the line of Aston Martin’s DB cars. It arrived earlier this year as a 2024 model, and is powered exclusively by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 rated at 671 hp. Anyone wanting V-12 power will have to upgrade to the new Vanquish that arrives for 2025.
