Early Ford F-Series pickup trucks are a popular option in the vehicle customizing scene, due in part to the wide availability of options and spare parts. And one company slowly building up a reputation for impressive F-Series builds is Ford Era run by Solomon Lunger.
He recently teamed up with Ford to develop a custom 1969 F-100 for the 2024 SEMA show, which runs next week in Las Vegas. He’s nicknamed his truck Clyde, and said it was built to showcase the F-100’s classic form and function, but with a modern twist.
That modern twist comes in the form of a carbon-fiber body and a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine borrowed from the latest F-150 Raptor R. However, rather than stick with the V-8’s stock 720 hp, Lunger and his crew bolted on a new 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger and a host of other modifications to take peak power up to more than 900 hp.
Other upgrades include a Porterbuilt Stage 2 coilover chassis from Fat Fender Garage, a set of forged custom wheels, and a new interior lined in leather trim.

Ford a few years back presented its own custom F-100 at the SEMA show, though instead of the traditional V-8 the automaker installed an electric powertrain. The electric powertrain, known as the Eluminator, was offered for a limited period. It came minus the battery which builders had to source separately.
At this year’s SEMA, Ford will also launch the new in-house customization program Ford Custom Garage. The program from time to time will offer limited-edition upgrade packages for popular Ford trucks and SUVs, designed to enhance both the style and performance of the vehicles. The packages will maintain Ford’s new vehicle warranty, and vehicles can still be serviced at any Ford dealership, the automaker said.
The first two packages are designed for the Bronco and include suspension parts as well as design tweaks. Also in the pipeline is a street truck package for the F-150 that will dial power up to 700 hp.
