NHTSA asks Tesla to recall 158,000 automobiles for touchscreen failures

WASHINGTON — NHTSA on Wednesday requested Tesla Inc. to recall 158,000 Mannequin S and Mannequin X automobiles over media management unit failures that might pose security dangers by resulting in touchscreen shows not working.

The auto security company made the weird request in a proper letter to Tesla Wednesday after upgrading a security probe in November.

NHTSA stated the problem might consequence within the lack of rear-camera picture show when in reverse and decreased rear visibility when backing up in addition to the Autopilot driver help system.
