Mazda said to mull ending Russian production

TOKYO — Mazda is discussing ending manufacturing of its autos at a three way partnership plant in Vladivostok, japanese Russia, the Nikkei newspaper reported.

The Japanese automaker bought 30,000 vehicles in Russia final 12 months.

Mazda mentioned in March that exports of elements to the plant have been going to finish and manufacturing would stop when shares ran out. It operates the plant with Russian automaker Sollers.

Mazda has not decided about ending automotive gross sales and upkeep operations in Russia, the Nikkei mentioned on Saturday. There was no timeframe for stopping manufacturing on the Vladivostok plant.

Mazda and Sollers started manufacturing on the manufacturing unit in 2012 after Russia’s automotive market made a robust restoration from the monetary disaster of 2009.

The manufacturing unit constructed the CX 5, Mazda 6 and a Sollers model car for the Russian market. Manufacturing capability began at 50,000 items a 12 months, with the goal of accelerating annual output to 70,000.

Toyota mentioned on Friday that may shut its plant in St. Petersburg, Russia, amid shortages of key parts and supplies following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
