Alpine A110 R Ultime revealed as new flagship for A110 sports car

  • Alpine A110 R Ultime is flagship version of A110
  • New sports car packs 345-hp 1.8-liter turbo-4
  • Pricing starts at 265,000 euros (approximately $289,000)

Alpine’s sole model on sale at present is the mid-engine A110, but the handsome sports car is on its way out shortly and Alpine is marking the peak of performance with the A110 R Ultime, a hardcore flagship limited to just 110 units worldwide.

The A110 R Ultime made its debut on Monday at the 2024 Paris auto show, where Alpine announced a starting price of 265,000 euros (approximately $289,000). And for buyers with extra-deep pockets, Alpine will offer 15 examples finished in a blue fade. This version is priced at 330,000 euros ($360,000).

Deliveries of the A110 R Ultime in markets where Alpine operates start next year. The U.S. isn’t one of the markets but Alpine plans to start sales here in 2027, likely with a pair of electric crossovers.

The A110 R Ultime stands out with its flics on the front fascia, small stabilizing fin on the engine cover, large rear wing with manual adjustment, the addition of a ducktail spoiler, and body-colored baffles, or air curtains, on the flanks of the rear fascia.

Other performance features include an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, Öhlins adjustable dampers, an AP Racing brake package, and forged wheels (18-inch front and 19-inch rear) shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Power comes from the A110’s 1.8-liter turbo-4, rated here at 345 hp, or about 50 hp more than what the engine produces in the lesser A110 R and A110 S models. The sole transmission offered in the A110 range is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and this is unchanged in the A110 R Ultime, although some tweaks were made to handle the new car’s higher torque racing of 310 lb-ft.

Using launch control, the A110 R Ultime will sprint from 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds, according to Alpine.

The A110 R Ultime has extra significance for Alpine as it also expected to mark the end of the road for gas powertrains at the brand. Alpine is working on seven new models for launch this decade, and all will be electric vehicles. These will include the recently revealed A290 hot hatch, an A390 compact crossover which was previewed at the Paris auto show by a thinly veiled concept version, and an electric successor to the A110. Alpine also used the Paris show to present a supercar concept powered by a hydrogen engine that Alpine may end up using in motorsports.
